The Turkish Personal Data Protection Board ruled on two separate occasions that Facebook Turkey violated the country's Personal Data Protection Act; however, the amounts of the fines were different despite the almost identical nature of the rulings. MarşanErezTuran Founder Serhat Turan, CIPP/E, was one of several observers who questioned the disparity in the penalties. "This is still a big question as the Turkish (data protection authority) has not yet delivered a metrics of 'fining methodology' to explain their decisions," Turan writes.
