In an op-ed for The Globe and Mail, University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law Internet and E-commerce Law Canada Research Chair Michael Geist writes the federal government should recalibrate its digital agenda when it launches its new legislative agenda later this month. Geist warns Canada may face a problem should the provinces take charge of producing and updating privacy laws. "The provincial developments point to the possibility of competing private-sector privacy rules across Canada that could result in conflicting rules, increased costs and business uncertainty," Geist writes.
