The White House is expected to announce the creation of a new federal agency designed to combat cyber threats and to coordinate digital intelligence, National Journal reports. The Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center will “connect the dots” between federal agencies “so that relevant departments and agencies are aware of these threats in as close to real time as possible,” an official has said, adding, “No existing agency has the responsibility for performing these functions, so we need these gaps to be filled to help the federal government meet its responsibilities in cybersecurity.” Nextgov reports the Department of Homeland Security also has plans to use big data analysis to fill in cyber-threat gaps. In a Q&A with The Wall Street Journal, a panel of cybersecurity insiders discussed cyber threats and how the Sony hack has initiated a paradigm shift.
