Following the appointment of John Bolton as the Trump administration's new national security advisor, a White House official confirmed that White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Rob Joyce will leave his position and return to the National Security Agency, Reuters reports. Joyce, who is reported to be leaving of his own volition, is expected to continue in his current role for approximately 30 days, when Bolton will be tasked with finding a replacement. Robert Lee, former U.S. intelligence officer and president of cyber firm Dragos, said of Joyce’s departure, “He’ll be missed in the position but hopefully set a standard that future appointments to the position will follow.”
