The private right of action in the California Consumer Privacy Act has generated substantial commentary. Now that plaintiffs have started to bring lawsuits alleging violations of the CCPA, we can see how these claims are being plead and the novel questions courts will be asked to consider. In this piece for Privacy Tracker, IAPP Legal Research Fellow Cathy Cosgrove looks at the definition of private right of action and the types of complaints that have been made under the CCPA.
