The Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee held a public hearing on a third iteration of the Washington Privacy Act Thursday. The 2021 bill, Senate Bill 5062 follows last year’s proposal, which failed to reach consensus in the House. While concerns were raised over the bill’s lack of a private right of action and opt-out consent, supporters said the proposed legislation provides robust consumer rights that empower Washington consumers.
