A pair of customers has filed a lawsuit against Walmart for alleged violations of the Video Privacy Protection Act, Bloomberg Law reports. The plaintiffs allege Facebook Pixel has been installed on Walmart’s website. Through the analytics tool, the plaintiffs state Walmart shared customer information with third parties without consent, such as their Facebook profiles and DVD and video game purchases. The plaintiffs accuse Walmart of installing the tool to show targeted ads to consumers. “We take our customers’ privacy seriously. We have not been served with the complaint and will respond as appropriate with the court,” Walmart Senior Director of National Media Relations Randy Hargrove said.
