After being called to investigate two men who had skipped out on a $7 Waffle House bill, Louisiana police unearthed a sophisticated identity-theft ring operating out of a U-Haul, the Associated Press reports. Pearl River Deputy Chief Daniel Hunter described a search of a U-Haul belonging to the two men that led police to the discovery of “a highly sophisticated identity theft scheme operating out of Los Angeles,” which included fake identification, credit cards and credit card skimming devices. Hunter said investigators are working with the Secret Service and more arrests are possible. The police statement said the two men were both were arrested on charges of identity theft, bank fraud, monetary instrument abuse and theft by fraud in addition to charges accrued individually.
