After its recent breach of more than 6.4 million and 4.9 million children’s and adults’ information, respectively, VTech has employed FireEye Inc.’s Mandiant Incident Response to assist the company with its customer data handling and system security, The Wall Street Journal reports. VTech is “deeply shocked by this orchestrated and sophisticated attack,” said the company’s CEO, Allan Wong. “We regret that users of Learning Lodge, Kid Connect and PlanetVTech, some of whom are colleagues, friends and families, are also affected.” He added that the company is “taking all necessary steps to ensure that our users can continue to enjoy our products and services, safe in the knowledge that their data is secure.” Meanwhile, “pub chain” JD Wetherspoon announced that it was recently hacked, with Motherboard reporting the number of victims to be “over 656,000.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
