When Dani Shapiro took an at-home DNA test on a whim, she did not expect to discover that her biological father was not the man who raised her. Shapiro chronicled the experience in her best-selling book "Inheritance: A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity, and Love." In the book, Shapiro writes about how she was ultimately able to discover the identity of the man who was her biological father. Shapiro stopped by the IAPP headquarters as she continues her book tour to talk with IAPP Research Director Caitlin Fennessy, CIPP/US, about the privacy concerns surrounding DNA tests, including how genetic information may be used beyond revealing a customer's lineage and what can be done to educate users about potential privacy risks.
