European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager has indicated neither the European Data Protection Board nor individual privacy regulators will be formally involved in a Google-Fitbit merger review, Bloomberg reports. Following an EDPB statement on mergers, Vestager said she wants to avoid a standard of blending competition and privacy investigations. "We cannot invite other bodies to participate," Vestager said. "We are very much aware that in cases there can be a privacy issue. We are just very careful not to see a competition issue where there is a privacy issue because, if that is the case, it's not for us."
