European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager said the need to move forward with the EU’s planned Digital Services Act is “urgent,” The Indian Express reports. She said Europe’s dependency on U.S. internet services during COVID-19 “was a wake-up call,” adding digital organizations “must take responsibility for their offerings” and the internet should be “European-regulated.” “We want competition, but we want democracy, and we reject the negative consequences of an unregulated capitalism,” she said.
