SC Magazine rounds up a pair of reports issued this week, adding more evidence that vendor management is a major concern for those heading up privacy and security departments. Bomgar’s “Vendor Vulnerabilty” report, surveying IT and security professionals in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and France, found 69 percent believe they may have been breached as the result of vendor access, and that they have an average of 89 vendors accessing their network in a given week. Ponemon’s “Data Risk in the Third Party Ecosystem” found 73 percent of respondents doubt they’d ever know if “fourth party” subcontractors experienced a breach, and 37 percent doubted even their own vendor would let them know of a breach.
