The U.S. Supreme Court sent a dispute between LinkedIn and hiQ Labs back to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Reuters reports. LinkedIn argues hiQ’s harvesting of personal data from its platform is a violation of users’ privacy. The Supreme Court also dismissed a lower court ruling that stopped LinkedIn from denying hiQ access to information members made publicly available. LinkedIn argued hiQ's software harvests data beyond what is possible from viewing public profiles.
