US Rep. McMorris Rodgers: Congress must not 'lose focus' on privacy during AI boom

The Record reports U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., does not want federal comprehensive privacy law discussions to fade in the wake of Congress' artificial intelligence focus. In remarks at the Forum Global's Data Privacy Conference USA, Rodgers said colleagues "might lose focus" on privacy as "the foundation for any AI efforts." She added the number of comprehensive state privacy laws passed in the absence of federal action "fail to adequately protect people's privacy equally."
