The nationwide push to implement "Green Alerts" for missing U.S. veterans is drawing privacy scrutiny, NPR reports. The alert, which recently became law in Wisconsin, allows information such as names, license plate numbers and mental health information to be put on display to find missing veterans, but the information is broadcasted without consent. Sens. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, are co-sponsoring a bill to recognize Green Alerts nationally while exploring best practices for implementation, including addressing veterans' privacy.
