The U.S. Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board issued a report with 19 recommendations for amending Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to better uphold citizens' privacy, Politico reports. The most contentious recommendation would require U.S. intelligence agencies to obtain a FISA court order for each query made to the repository of telecommunications data collected under Section 702. The Biden administration is pushing for a full reauthorization of Section 702 as currently constituted before it expires in December.
