A group of U.S. lawmakers headed up by Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court lobbying for it to maintain a lower court ruling on prohibiting robocalls without consumer consent. Lawmakers said reversing provisions for consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act would be shortsighted as it prevents scammers from "intruding on Americans’ privacy, scamming their wallets, and overwhelming our confidence in the nation’s telephone networks."
