Gizmodo reports U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., along with Reps. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., and Bobby Rush, D-Ill., called on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board to investigate potential government surveillance over Black Lives Matter protestors. The lawmakers wrote a letter to PCLOB pointing out various claims of alleged surveillance, which they say has a "chilling effect" on citizens' rights, including privacy. The letter implores PCLOB to explore "the legal authorities" permitting government agencies to collect information on protestors at events across the country.
