U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Ray Lujan, D-NM, along with Rep. Lori Trahan, D-Mass., introduced the Terms-of-service Labeling, Design and Readability Act. The bill would require companies to provide digestible service agreements and privacy notices that would increase transparency and better inform consumers about how personal data is collected and used. "Users should not have to comb through pages of legal jargon in a website’s terms of services to know how their data will be used,” Cassidy said, adding simplified notices are "long overdue."
