The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights issued a request for information to receive public comments on provisions of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. OCR sought feedback on the security practices of covered entities and business associates under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act’s Security Rule when the agency made decisions regarding penalties and remedies. OCR has additionally solicited comments on the distribution of monetary penalties for harmed individuals pursuant to the HITECH Act.
