  • Reuters reports the U.S. Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to members of Congress on the need to pass federal privacy legislation. The latest call by the business organization urges drafting of a federal law that's "clear and fair to business and empowering to consumers."
  • A Morning Consult-Politico poll of 2,000 registered U.S. voters revealed a majority favor drafting federal privacy legislation. The survey, conducted Jan. 8 and 9, found 56% of voters across parties either fully or somewhat support, as Morning Consult and Politico framed it, "a proposal to make it illegal for social media companies to use personal data to recommend content via algorithms."
