A California-based auto lender may have left exposed the personal information of half a million customers, The Daily Dot reports. Discovered by Kromtech Security Researchers, the breach involved customer purchase information, which includes names, addresses, FICO credit scores, vehicle data, and the last four digits of Social Security numbers. The leaked files also included some audio recordings of conversations between customers and lenders. These "consent calls" included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and phone numbers. The lender's website claims it uses encryption to protect customer data. Though the researchers accessed the data, it is not yet clear whether anyone else did. Meanwhile, Home Depot appears to have left the personal data of 8,000 customers exposed when it mistakenly posted a spreadsheet with the data online.
