UNICEF reflected on its advocacy work to protect children’s privacy after participating in several sessions at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit in April. UNICEF had discussions with the U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office, the Irish Data Protection Commission and Apple, which have led the charge on good data governance practices for children, such as the U.K. Age Appropriate Design Code. UNICEF highlighted that other countries, including France and the Netherlands, introduced similar codes. This differed from the U.S. approach of having the industry self-regulate, UNICEF noted.
