According to a post from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteur on Privacy Joseph Cannataci has introduced a draft of international standards for the use and protection of heath care data. The recommendations explain best practices for data management, addressing particular issues and considerations for data protection needs in case-by-case matters. "Health-related data is very sensitive and has high commercial value," Cannataci said. "There is a largely hidden industry that is already collecting, using, selling and securing health data. This has a major impact on our privacy and is of enormous concern."
