The Guardian reports a series of alleged data protection missteps may prevent the U.K. from having post-Brexit access to EU data. The Netherlands and France have each halted discussions with the U.K. on post-Brexit adequacy. Dutch officials have cited the inappropriate use of the Schengen Information System database by U.K. law enforcement as one of the troubling missteps that paused negotiations. "Given the broad and comprehensive ambitious relationship that the Netherlands strives for with the (U.K.) in the field of internal security, there must be absolute trust in each other’s practices and systems," a Dutch spokesman said.
