British Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove announced the U.K. will not seek an extension to the Dec. 31 Brexit transition period deadline, Politico reports. Gove confirmed the decision with European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič and Head of Task Force for Relations with the United Kingdom Michel Barnier during a EU-U.K. Joint Committee meeting. "We take this decision as a definitive one," said Šefčovič. "In this context, we both agreed on accelerating the implementation of Withdrawal Agreement and to accelerate our work."
