The U.K. government announced the formation and inaugural meeting of the International Data Transfer Expert Council, which is designed to "help Britain seize the opportunities of better global data sharing." The 20-member group features industry representatives from the likes of Google, Mastercard and Microsoft, and a range of privacy professionals, including IAPP Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer Caitlin Fennessy, CIPP/US. U.K. Data Minister Julia Lopez said the initiative will push the U.K. to "drive forward cutting-edge policies at home and overseas to ensure people, businesses and economies benefit from safe and secure data flows."
