In an interview with the Financial Times, U.K. Information Commissioner John Edwards offered comments and his vision for the future of U.K. data protection enforcement. Edwards discussed a "sharp supervisory focus" that will force Big Tech companies to "open up and be honest" about business models and data practices. Edwards added the ICO has a chance to be a global leader on data protection following its departure from the EU, noting the EU General Data Protection Regulation created "quite a lot of friction and lag." Meanwhile, Edwards announced upcoming listening sessions regarding the state of the ICO's working relationships with organizations and individuals.
