The U.K. Gambling Commission released a note stating it expects the British gambling industry to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, despite concerns about the impending rules, Out-Law.com reports. The note lists out the ways it sees operators lawfully processing personal data to meet their licensing obligations, while offering a warning not to use the GDPR as a reason for failing to accomplish their requirements. "GDPR should not be improperly used as an excuse to avoid taking steps which enable compliance with licence conditions, promote socially responsible gambling, and promote the licensing objectives," the note reads.
