The Wall Street Journal reports on the data challenges U.K. companies face around the prospect of a no-deal Brexit. Allen & Overy Partner Nigel Parker said companies would have to alter thousands of contracts over the use of personal data in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Parker added the scenario would make the preparation of legal contracts a “depressing exercise that involves a lot of companies putting in place a lot of paperwork.” Companies may spend thousands of dollars to remain compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Parker said, but it could be “an effort that might be in vain should the U.K. not opt for a no-deal Brexit.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
