U.K. Digital, Culture, Media & Sport Select Committee Chair Damian Collins and Canadian Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics Chair Bob Zimmer have sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an effort to have him testify at a hearing Nov. 27, CNET reports. The hearing will focus on the spread of disinformation and “fake news” and feature the committees from the U.K. and Canada, with others likely to participate. “No such joint hearing has ever been held,” the letter states. “Given your self-declared objective to ‘fix’ Facebook, and to prevent the platform’s malign use in world affairs and the democratic process, we would like to give you the chance to appear at this hearing.” The committees have given Zuckerberg until Nov. 7 to respond.
