Uber has released its Transparency Report detailing the requests for information made by law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and in Canada in 2017. In the first half of 2017, 3,799 U.S. rider and driver accounts were requested, with the ride-hailing company producing data in 73 percent of the cases, while in the second half of the year, 15,887 accounts were requested by U.S. law enforcement, with Uber location information in 68 percent of those instances. For Canadian law enforcement requests, far fewer requests were made and were broken down into two different inquiries: legal process and emergency purposes.
