In an interview with CBS News, Uber Chief Privacy Officer Ruby Zefo, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP, provided her perspective on a number of different privacy topics. Zefo, who joined Uber 14 months ago, said she rates the growth of the company's privacy efforts "very highly" while saying the greatest success has been "changing the narrative" following privacy issues before her tenure began. "We launched some internal privacy principles, talked about what it means to have the law as the low bar and to do more for customers and keep the user experience consistent," Zefo said. She later explained why she prefers a federal U.S. privacy law to preempt state laws. Editor's Note: Zefo discussed her first months at Uber in this piece for The Privacy Advisor.
