In a letter to Amazon and Google, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-MN, pushed the companies for details on user privacy related to their smart-home devices and virtual assistants, Reuters reports. Klobuchar, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s antitrust subcommittee, asked the companies to provide information by July 2 on how voice assistants collect data and how that information is used. She also asked which products will support the Matter industry alliance, which looks to sync internet-connected devices from various companies.
