The U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance and Data Security will host a hearing titled “Oversight of the Federal Trade Commission” Nov. 27. The subcommittee will examine whether the FTC should have more authority in privacy and data security cases, its priorities in promoting competition and consumer protection, and an update on its innovation hearings, which have explored how changes in technology affect the agency. The witnesses include FTC Chairman Joseph Simons and commissioners Rohit Chopra, Noah Phillips, Rebecca Kelly Slaughter and Christine Wilson.
