The U.S. Postal Service filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit alleging its biometrics-based Internet Covert Operations Program failed to meet legal obligations, Biometric Update reports. The Electronic Privacy Information Center argues in the lawsuit the Postal Service failed to conduct a privacy impact assessment as required under the E-Government Act of 2002. The Post Office argues EPIC does not have standing to argue the suit and the E-Government Act does not require it to disclose information to the public.
