Google has agreed to settle a September 2015-born class-action dispute over allegedly "scanning" non-users' emails sans consent, in violation of both state and federal law, MediaPost reports. While "Google's terms of service currently discloses that it analyzes the contents of email messages," the initial complainant said as he didn't have a Gmail account and was only conversing with those who did, he didn't agree to the terms, the report states. While settlement details are mostly unknown, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in the Northern District of California, who rejected Google's attempt to dismiss the suit in June, will review the settlement while plaintiff Daniel Matera is expected to file a settlement outline by Dec. 28.
