A U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of California dismissed two claims Jan. 25 in a proposed class-action lawsuit against Google for allegedly violating the California Invasion of Privacy Act, Jurist reports. The plaintiffs claimed Google collected their data despite turning off Google’s “Web & App Activity” button. The judge ruled the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate the real-time generation of advertisements based off their data and that turning off the WAA button did not amount to a binding contract not to collect user data.
