- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has called for a new agreement on trans-Atlantic data flows, saying data flows are “the lifeblood of the U.S.-EU trade and investment partnership.” Since the "Schrems II" ruling in July 2020, companies are “caught in the crossfire of investigations and legal actions injecting uncertainty around cross-border data transfers.” The organization said a new Privacy Shield agreement that brings legal certainty to data transfers should be a “top priority” for the U.S. and EU.
