The U.K. government announced it will be implementing a new charging structure for data controllers to coincide with the EU General Data Protection Regulation implementation date. The structure will ensure the Information Commissioner’s Office continues to receive funding and is broken down into three tiers. Companies will pay based on variables such as size, turnover, and whether they are a public authority or charity. Organizations will be required to pay the current notification fees until the 25 May GDPR implementation date. The ICO has produced a guide for understanding the new structure.
