A Texas appeals court has ruled the state’s “revenge porn” law unconstitutional, Reason reports. The appeals court made its decision in a case where a man was indicted under the law in 2017, deeming the rule to have violated the client's First Amendment rights, and was "overbroad in the sense that it violates rights of too many third parties by restricting more speech than the Constitution permits." The Texas Attorney General’s Office will take the case to the state Supreme Court. Currently, it is a misdemeanor to post any revenge porn content, with those convicted facing up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
