Hackers held the computer systems of two California-based Prime Healthcare Services’ hospitals for ransom Friday, Kaiser Health News reports. A Prime Healthcare spokesman said that the incident didn’t cripple the internal systems, hospitals remained “operational,” and the FBI is investigating the incident. While not elaborating on the ransom, he called the situation “similar to challenges hospitals across the country are facing.” Meanwhile, Chubb's Global Cyber Risk Practice announced the launch of a ransomware service for policyholders. “Many businesses are not equipped to deal with a cyber-extortion attempt, where the timeliness of the response is even more critical,” said Global Cyber Risk Practice’s Toby Merrill.
