CNET reports Twitter announced plans to increase protections on high-profile accounts leading up to the November U.S. presidential election. Accounts belonging to elected officials, opposing politicians and journalists from major U.S. outlets will see enhanced security measures that include improved login protection, detections and alerts, and account recovery. Owners of covered accounts will also be tasked with strengthening their account password to Twitter's standards. Twitter's overhaul comes in response to a July hacking incident of high-profile individuals.
