IT World Canada will host a Twitter Q&A with CryptoMill Technologies Inc.’s Nandini Jolly and OpenMedia’s Laura Tribe on May 31 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET on the subject of “the future of data and privacy,” IT World Canada reports. “If 2015 was the year of the hack, then 2016 is the year privacy and encryption squared off against national security,” the report states. “When companies and governments can simply demand or hand over data on a whim, is there a purpose to encryption? What becomes of data sovereignty now that cross-border hacking is state sanctioned?” Using the hashtag #ITWCchats, users can engage with the speakers, answer similarly posed questions or ask their own, the report adds.
