Evan Williams, a founder of Twitter and co-creator of Blogger, says he thinks "the internet is broken" and things are getting worse, The New York Times reports. Social networking sites are now being used to highlight the dark side of human nature, while fake news, trolling and harassment are all on the rise. Williams now wants to fix some of these things. He says the internet rewards extremes. "Say you're driving down the road and see a car crash ... Everyone looks," he said. "The internet interprets behavior like this to mean everyone is asking for car crashes, so it tries to supply them." That's why, over recent years, Williams has focused on building out Medium, a site that aims to provide in-depth content while being socially collaborative.
