Twitter announced it has released “all the accounts and related content associated with potential information operations” that were found since 2016. While the platform previously released information, Twitter said it was intentionally releasing “substantially more information” to help enable research and investigation. Politico reports that the data set from Twitter’s Elections Integrity Hub shows a “yearslong campaign to sow discord and influence U.S. politics” by both Russia and accounts tied to Iran. Meanwhile, Alex Stamos, Facebook’s former chief security officer, said the U.S. has not done enough to fix vulnerabilities with regards to election attacks, adding, “we have not seen the kind of massive upgrade in campaign infrastructure that you would need to stand against a professional hacking agency like that.” An article for Politico summarizes efforts to address election security and critical infrastructure.
