According to Johannes Hahn, commissioner for the European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Turkey should enact personal data protection legislation as part of completing visa-liberalization plans for Turks seeking entry into the EU. Sputnik News reports that the EU and Turkey agreed to a plan to counter excessive refugee migration to the bloc in November. As part of the plan, the EU agreed to give the Turkish government 3 billion euros, expedite visa privileges for Turkish citizens, and discuss Turkey’s accession to the EU.
