Turkey's data protection authority, the KVKK, issued a 210,000 TL fine to a bank for breaching the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698. The bank allegedly used improper data processing from a third party to create an individual bank account without consent. The activity violated Article 12(1)(a) of the LPPD and its provisions on obligations to ensure reasonable and appropriate safeguards to avoid illegal processing. (Original post is in Turkish.)
