In a move that has been rumored since at least August, U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated antitrust attorney Joseph Simons to become chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, Reuters reports. Simons is currently a partner at the Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison law firm and previously held the role of director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition from 2001 to 2003. Trump is also expected to nominate Sen. John Cornyn’s, R-Texas, chief counsel, Noah Phillips, and the Consumer Federation of America’s Rohit Chopra to be FTC commissioners.
